Dr. Henry Boyd Hall and the Desegregation of Blacks
at Del Mar College

Dr. Henry Boyd Hall became recognized as a civil rights leader
for his active role in community civil rights movements and organizations. During his period of serving as State President of the NAACP, he led support of the 1954 Supreme Court desegregation degree, which propelled him as an instrumental figure in desegregating the local Internal Revenue and Post Office departments, as well as Texas A&I University at Kingsville, Del Mar College and CCISD. In 1951, when Del Mar College registered its first black students, Dr. Hall escorted the students to campus, where they registered without incident.
