1919
Walter Francis Timon and the Campaign for the Seawall

County Judge and community leader Walter Francis Timon spearheaded the idea of having a seawall and breakwater built to prevent recurrence of the aftermath from the 1919 hurricane. During his tenure as judge, Corpus Christi saw the new Courthouse unveiled in 1914. Unfortunately, his time in politics was not without controversy. Allegations of voter manipulation and bribery, which were dropped for lack of evidence, and personal problems including being involved in an altercation where he shot his nephew in a hotel lobby in Brownsville seemed to haunt him.
He later became president of the Corpus Christi Chamber
of Commerce.
